Description
This is the complete portfolio of the John F. Kennedy silver half dollars, covering all 46 years of their minting. The Kennedy half-dollar debuted in 1964, three months after the president’s assassination, replacing the Franklin half dollar and instantly becoming a highly sought-after collector’s item. Its usage has become rare, and because it was not released into normal circulation every year, it remains difficult to assemble a complete collection. This series contains notable moments in the history of the coin, including the double-dated Bicentennial coin (with Independence Hall on the reverse), the hard-to-find Millennium Coin of 2000, and the original 1964 coin that was struck with .900 fine silver. (Years 1965-1970 were minted with 40 percent silver, subsequent years were minted with nickel/copper.) Each collection contains a mix of uncirculated and circulated coins and arrives in a handsome portfolio with a certificate of authenticity. 13" H x 11" W x 2 1/2" D. (3 lbs.)
