Description
This is the commemorative Fisher AG-7 Space Pen that contains a piece of genuine Kapton polyimide tape recovered from Columbia, Apollo 11’s Command Module. Preserved within a transparent acrylic dome sealed into the pen’s cap that displays its gold (down) side, the square of Kapton tape—an authentic artifact that actually travelled to the Moon and back—was removed from Columbia’s thermal protection shield by former Rockwell Space Division recovery team member O.W. Nasse in August 1969. The pen that accompanied Apollo astronauts into space, the AG-7 today uses the same thixotropic ink sealed in a pressurized cartridge to enable writing in temperatures from -30º F to 250º F, underwater, at any angle (even upside down), and in zero gravity. The black titanium nitride-finished brass barrel has 24-karat gold-plated engravings celebrating Apollo 11’s historic achievement. Ultra-hard tungsten carbide ball writes a medium line in black ink. With commemorative coin. 5.06" long. Signature required for delivery.
