Description
This is the motorized train set from Hammacher Schlemmer and made by classic toy maker FAO Schwarz. The black-, silver-, and red-painted 2-6-0 tender issues the realistic sound of a real steam locomotive while its working headlamp illuminates the way ahead. Pulled behind are three cars: a black freight car with a sliding red door, a silver passenger car with clerestory windows that would have kept passengers cool during summer trips, and a classic red caboose. Running on three AA batteries, the train rides on 20′ of G-scale track that forms an 8’2" x 4’3" oval which surrounds even the fullest of Christmas trees. (8 1/2 lbs.)
